Darren Thorsen, Optometric Physician
Dr. Thorsen grew up in Warrenton, OR. He completed his undergraduate work at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA and then went on to study optometry at the Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR. He has practiced in Long Beach, WA for 20 years and in 2002, he took over Dr. Russell Lende's practice in Seaside, OR. He is chamber of the board for Ocean Beach Hospital, and he is associate professor for Pacific University.He is involved with the Local Elks. He currently lives in Naselle, WA with his wife Andrea and their two boys.

Nina Nemetz, Optometric Physician
Nina Nemetz was born and raised near Vienna, in Linz, Austria. She came to the United States in 1995 and completed her degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon.She recently used her optometric skills providing care in Guatemala and participates in the annual Oregon and Washington Special Olympics. She enjoys mountain biking, hiking and is also a fitness instructor. Dr. Nemetz currently resides in Seaside, Or. Coastal Eye care proudly welcomes Dr. Nina Nemetz and her practice in both Seaside and Long Beach offices. |

Marissa Knutson, Optometric Physician
Dr. Knutson, born and raised in North Dakota, completed her Bachelors in Science degree at North Dakota State University before studying optometry and earning her Doctorate at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR. She enjoys all aspects of eye care and is especially concerned with helping the under-served populations of the world. Her current affiliations include the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association, American Optometric Association, and Beta Sigma Kappa Professional Honor Society. She has had the privilege of providing eye care to indigent populations in Nicaragua as well as helping those less fortunate through Habitat for Humanity and Family Bridge Shelter near Portland OR. Marissa enjoys participating in outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and fishing. Playing sports and working with children also top her list of favorite things to do. She fell in love with the Pacific Northwest during her graduate years and is looking forward to serving our coastal communities. |

Mitch Brinks, Physician,Surgeon
Born at Sacred heart hospital in Eugene, Mitch Brinks built his roots in here in the Pacific Northwest. A University of Oregon alumni in Biology in 1988, he went on to the Oregon Health Sciences University a completed an honors degree in Medicine, followed by ophthalmology training at the Casey Eye Institute there in 1996.
He since devoted a large part of his career to international work, directing eye care for the U.S. territory of Samoa for three years right after completing his training. Following four years of a busy surgical practice in Maui, working with Native Hawaiians in Hana, he returned to Oregon State University to complete a Masters degree in International Health in 2004. He has since worked overseas in East Timor, Cambodia, Bhutan, the Marshall Islands, and Samoa, practicing stateside around Portland and in Ellensburg, Washington. He is also an affilitate clinical professor at the Oregon Health Sciences University, working with university training and research programs.
His domestic practice delivers eye care to under-served rural communities around Oregon and Washington. Dr. Brinks recently established an international eye care non profit organization, Ohana Eyes International that has already partnered with the Oregon Health Sciences University and Legacy Health Systems to build educational and research programs in Samoa, and soon plans to do the same in Cambodia.
He enjoys fishing, working his ten acre farm, and archery hunting.
